Seattle, Washington

Friends of ours of ours from Barclay College (Haviland, KS) live up around the Pueget Sound and have been asking to see us. On a whim Monday morning, we decided to call them up. Within a few hrs. we were on the road.

Now, what you need to understand is that when Scott is behind the wheel and we're driving anywhere north of Portland, especially on a clear day, his eyes begin to salivate to see Mt. Hood, which means that I feel the great need to watch the road for him! We've been on I-205 many times when we begin to slightly drift into another lane because "the mountains are out." This desire to catch a glimpse of Mt. Hood is completely understandable, HOWEVER, call me crazy, I'd like to be able to live AND see it!

From their back deck, you can see Mt. Rainer in all its glory--THAT got us both pumped! It really is an amazing sight. We had a great time visiting and touring Port Orchard and surrounding areas as Rob took us to some of his favorite spots. We saw a fish hatchery, and some great views of Seattle by the water.

Then the next (rainy) morning, we boarded a ferry to Seattle. We visited Pike Place where the famous fish place is and they toss around huge fish among the workers. There was so much food there, of all kinds, flowers, honey, produce, wares and plenty of people for a Tuesday morning. What do these people do for a living? Doesn't anybody work?!!

Oh, and the original Starbuck's is there too. Got a photo of that, but the logo is rather racy, so we won't be posting that!! We also passed the Starbuck's headquarters where all the magic happens! We also drove by Safeco Field (Seattle Mariners) and Qwest Field (Seattle Seahawks).

Rob & Jennifer were great hosts and took very good care of us! If you get a chance, Seattle is a pretty interesting place to visit.

Be sure to check out the post before this too!

Great updates, guys! Sounds like you are having a lot of fun out there! Looks like there's sure a lot of neat things to see! Thanks for all the great pictures! That fish looks very creepy!! Is it fake?? Strange!

I had to giggle about Scott sightseeing while he is driving.....Chuck does that too...and I have to watch the road (well...I figure at least one of us should be!)! :) I can understand being mesmerized by those mountains, though!! They must be incredibly majestic!

Love you and miss you both so much!

Nice pictures. Looks like you have lots of fun things to do in your neck of the woods. Today is 11/02/2009 and I wanted to wish Karen a Happy Birthday. Call me and leave your email on my phone message because I deleted the wrong one from my computer and I only have the juno address. Love to you both - Sue
