International Rose Test Garden - July 31, 2009

It was hot today, but so pretty. This was going to be one of our last chances to see the Rose Garden with beautiful blooms before Scott started school on Monday (Aug 3). This world-renowned park is located inside Washington Park, on the NW side of Portland. It is the oldest operating rose test garden in the US, and the city of Portland is nicknamed the "City of Roses" because of it.

There are over 525 species of roses and several new varieties are evaluated every 2 years and winners become part of judging for the country's best roses. This place was intoxicating. Hummingbirds made appearances, as well as many bumble bees.

Another must see in Portland!
