The Eagle Has Landed!

It's official--I have accepted a job with Concordia University and will be starting Monday as an Administrative Assistant in their Advancement Services Department. Translation: this is the place that takes $$$ from donors, alumni, etc which funds MAJOR building projects on campus. They recently opened a 74,000 sq ft library that was funded by ONE donor! From what I'm understanding, my job is basically administrative with some event help mixed in. No other calls from the "fish company", and after much prayer, this seems to be what God would have for us at this time. So, I need to get all the fun in while I can--I've got 5 days until it's back to reality!!!

God has, and CONTINUES to be good to us! We are grateful!

Another Job Interview this Week!

When it rains (which it's not...yet), it pours! I received a call yesterday that turned into a phone interview as well as set up an in-person interview for Friday morning at Concordia University in their Advancement Department.

Today's interview went very well, I believe. Very down to earth people in this small, 3-person sales office. They hope to finish interviews by Friday and we'll go from there. If I go to the next level, they will bring their HR person in from L.A., CA to meet with me. No road trips for me....rats!

Needless to say, we covet your prayers for wisdom & discernment. My desire is to find the RIGHT job, and I do not claim to know which that is.

I also attended my first seminary class yesterday with Scott, Genesis - Song of Solomon in the Old Testament. It was really awesome! My hope is that I will be able to continue to attend this class for the entire semester and I have let both potential employers about it, so that's another area of prayer. One thing I have come to understand, as well as experience, is the truth of God's word that says, "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen." We must also take this in context, and should not expect God to act like a Geenie-in-a-bottle either.

I look forward to writing about more amazing works of the Savior in my life. Without Him, I would be nothing.

That's all I've got for today, kids!

A job interview!

Out of the blue, I got a call for an interview on Wednesday morning! Whoo-hoo! I'm still rather confused as I have no record of ever sending a resume to this company and the name doesn't even ring a bell! Thankfully the lady I spoke with was gracious. So, do you want to know what the company is? Get ready......H & N Foods. Go to the website if you're really bored: www.hnfoods.com.

Guess what their business is. They are an international importer, distributor, wholesaler, and processor for seafood and fish! Isn't that hilarious? Those who know me well would know that this is even funnier because I really don't like seafood! Fish is ok, but those hard shelled, gotta-scoop-it-out-yourself things make me squirm. Once, on accident, I ate a bite of squid in a cold salad (thought it was pasta) when in Hawaii. It was so chewy and weird. My dad noticed the look on my face and asked what was wrong. When I told him, he said, "Oh, that's calamari." I said, "Cala-who?" He replied, "Squid." I immediately spit it out and tried to wipe my tongue with a dry napkin!!! This will be interesting!!

The lady was very nice and it actually sounds like a nice set up with a very small office. It's an administrative position. So we would appreciate your prayers for wisdom. Thanks!

It's a pretty Saturday here in Portland, and opportunity awaits us! Not sure what our travels will find today......
