You may not be able to appreciate this, but after selling our house and our KING size bed, sleeping on a FULL size FUTON for 2 1/2 months, a QUEEN size hotel bed felt AWESOME!! I can't speak for everyone else in the room....
So, Super 8's continental breakfast is, well......bread. Lots of bread. And some cereal. I promise not to complain because that's what conference attendees tend to do if they don't like what the Event Planner (me) chooses for meals. I will be satisfied with what I received for free and be grateful. Grateful that I know we've got some bananas, apples and some other contraband in the Explorer!! :-)
Today was, overall, rather uneventful once we pulled out around 8:30am. The sights along the road included: corn, corn, corn, and, yes, you guessed it....more CORN! I think I'm reciting the song in my subconscious now...
There were some rather impressive windmill "farms" we saw along I-80 however. Scott continued to ask, "I wonder just how much energy these things REALLY can produce." Nobody could answer that question for him...sorry!
Around 3pm a frantic call came across the walkie talkies from Scott B & I John...they have less than 1/8 tank of gas and the exits with fuel are few and far between. We were dangerously close and a few unnamed individuals had a few moments of freaking out...some just decided to pray. As always, God was faithful and answered our prayer! We made it to exit 112 on I-29 on fumes....
We arrived in Sioux Falls, SD around 6:30pm CST. Scott B received a call that his wife Tauni was in the ER in Urbana, OH. For several hours we waited for test results and prognosis to come through, while formulating how we could get Scott back home if it came to that. By 10pm, Tauni was being released to go home and Scott would be continuing on with us to Portland.
It's been another long day. We're grateful for another safe day of travel, some good laughs, and SEVERAL answers to prayer.
Tomorrow we venture to Mt. Rushmore and points of interest near there before ending our day, God willing, in Gillette, Wyoming.
Good night.
