By 7:30am we made it to Westerville to pick up John Fowler (aka (First) I John). We were right on schedule (almost a modern day miracle in itself!) and arrived at the truck rental place. Let's just say that we should have known this wasn't going to be a smooth transaction when we met the 2 dogs inside of this very tiny office which was attached to a car repair garage..."Mr. Penske Jr." (as I John named him) seemed to be trying, albeit not very successfully, to multi-task with everyone except us. Almost an hour later we left. We had boxes to load!!
After quick run to Panera for the essentials, we made it to "Taylor Storage", where we were met by our second driver, Scott Biddle, and the Person's. They were almost finished!! What a crew. We took a few pictures, said good-bye to the Person's, minus John, and headed over to Dublin to finish packing the rest of our belongings.
By the time I finished giving the men boxes and miscellaneous items to put in the truck, it was almost noon. We definitely were running behind our planned departure time. However, there was NO WAY we were going to head out without getting some MAJOR prayer, and praying for a few very important people (Scott's sister in law's scheduled c-section tomorrow, and our friend Debbie Boggs surgery/biopsy). After a tearful goodbye to John Persons (aka (second) II John), I John & I went to [crappy] Kroger--sorry Jen!
Another delay....Mr. Deli Man had trouble getting his gait out of 2nd gear. He was the only one in the deli and we were his only customers! AAAAAHHHHHHH! Didn't he KNOW we were behind schedule?!! Anyway, we made it to Tuttle Crossing and met Scott & Scott. We made sandwiches. This was my first food of the day and it was 12:30pm! By 1:02 pm, we made our way to I-270---we have LIFTOFF!
Aside from a phone call from Faith Rechel (who wanted to invite us over for dinner tonight!), a quick look at a couple fighter jets flying into Wright-Patt AFB, and a voicemail from my boss, Jeff (to tell us Debbie Boggs got a great report), it was a good trip. Indiana and Illinois look about the same as Ohio. A little greener, a LOT more corn, and more corn! We have a little song about corn....
We arrived at Super 8 in the big city of East Peoria around 7:30pm (EST), and had driven approximately 402 miles. We were tired!
We've got a long day tomorrow. Gotta get some rest. I'm falling asleep in my dinner....
p.s. Mile 222 the Penske truck's CHECK ENGINE light came on! No biggie, all was well. Phew!
