If you've been watching any national news, you may have noticed Portland, OR making headlines quite a bit in the past year. First, you might remember the couple who decided to take a drive to the Mt. Hood area this past winter, who had a GPS and STILL managed to get lost and stranded for about 3 days.
And most recently, the disappearance of Kyron Horman. It's been 9 weeks since the 7-year old has been missing. It's a criminal investigation, but they haven't arrested anyone. The step mom was the last one to see him after dropping him off after the school science fair; she also was found to have approached her landscaper offering him money to kill her husband!
Actually, just this week, there surfaced another story of an 8 year old and her lemonade stand. The morons at the Portland Health Department decided to issue her a $120 fine because she didn't have a food-handler's license! Wow.
Tonight, while waiting for another show to come on we were watching "Cops" (yeah, yeah, keep your comments to yourself!) and sure enough, Portland made this episode. I don't suppose it matters where you live, there will always be those that think after committing a crime and having a few warrants for their arrest, it's a good idea to run! Our friend Duane will get a kick out of this.
We had a great time tonight at the park where the Portland Symphony orchestra performed for 2 hrs. It's pretty cool that the park systems allow free concerts throughout the summer. That is definitely one thing the city does well, scheduling all kinds of events, concerts, street fairs, etc. to take advantage of the summer. There's never a shortage of things to do.
So much for maintaining that kind of reputation....
